Day 1: Lake Nakuru National Park

Start your adventure with an early morning pick-up and drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Situated south of Bogoria in the heart of the Rift Valley, Lake Nakuru is world-renowned for its breathtaking flocks of flamingos. This alkaline lake, recognized as one of the Natural Wonders of the World, is also a rhino sanctuary, home to over 40 black rhinos and 60 white rhinos.

While the flamingos are the star attraction, the park boasts an array of wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, buffalos, hippos, and occasional sightings of the elusive black rhino. During peak times, the lake can host nearly 2 million flamingos, creating a spectacular deep pink halo around its shores.

Arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive to explore the park’s diverse landscapes and rich wildlife. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at your chosen campsite or lodge.

Accommodation: Lake Nakuru Lodge

Day 2: Masai Mara National Reserve

Begin the day with an early morning drive to the world-famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. This iconic destination remains one of the last few places on earth where wildlife thrives in its natural habitat, with numbers reminiscent of Africa’s untamed past.

As the northern extension of the Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara is renowned for hosting the spectacular Great Migration, where thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and their predators traverse the plains in search of greener pastures.

Arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive to witness the incredible diversity of wildlife that makes the Mara so legendary.

Accommodation: Zebra Plains Mara Camp

Day 3-4: Masai Mara National Reserve

Spend two exciting days exploring the Maasai Mara on full-day game drives with packed lunches. The reserve is famous for its black-maned lions, abundant wildlife, and the rare chance to spot the Big Five in a single morning.

Cheetahs here are known for their close encounters, often using vehicles as shade or vantage points to scout for prey. Bird enthusiasts will delight in spotting some of the nearly 500 recorded species, including eagles, hawks, falcons, vultures, storks, and even the mighty kori bustard—the world’s heaviest flying bird.

Accommodation: Zebra Plains Mara Camp

Day 5: Masai Mara to Serengeti National Park

Today, you’ll journey from the Maasai Mara to Serengeti National Park via the Isebania border. While the transfer takes most of the day, it’s far from boring—enjoy game drives in both the Maasai Mara in the morning and the Serengeti in the afternoon.

Arrive at your tented camp with an en-route game drive, ready to unwind and soak in the Serengeti’s magic.

Accommodation: Acacia Central Camp

Day 6-7: Serengeti National Park

Welcome to the legendary Serengeti, home to the Great Migration and endless plains, as its Kiswahili name suggests. This 6,900 sq. mile park is teeming with over 2 million large animals, including wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles, alongside predators like lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. Nearly 500 bird species and smaller creatures, such as rock hyraxes and monkeys, add to the park’s rich biodiversity.

On Day 6, enjoy game drives as you explore this vast wilderness. On Day 7, dive deeper with morning and afternoon game drives. Optional adventures include visiting Olduvai Gorge or experiencing a breathtaking balloon safari.

Accommodation: Acacia Central Camp

Day 8: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Start the day with an early morning game drive to catch the animals at their most active and enjoy a spectacular sunrise over the Serengeti. Return to camp for brunch before transferring to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Ngorongoro’s 2,000-foot-high walls enclose a 102 sq. mile crater, often described as a modern-day Noah’s Ark. It boasts the planet’s highest concentration of wildlife, including the rare black rhino. The crater floor features a river, swamps dotted with flamingos, a lush forest, and open plains. Its bull elephants are famous for their massive tusks, thanks to the volcanic soil’s rich minerals.

Optional: Enjoy an afternoon walking safari in the scenic Ngorongoro Highlands.

Accommodation: Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge

Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater

Begin your day with an early descent into the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater for unparalleled wildlife viewing. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the hippo lake before continuing your exploration of this natural wonder. In the late afternoon, ascend the crater walls and transfer to Manyara for your overnight stay.

Alternatively, visit Tarangire National Park instead of Manyara, especially recommended from June to September.

Optional: Stop by Oldonyo Sambu Maasai Village on your way to Manyara or Tarangire.

Accommodation: Escarpment Luxury Lodge

Day 10: Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, head to Lake Manyara National Park for a full-day game drive. Known for its lush acacia forests and giant fig trees, this park is home to baboons, blue monkeys, and a variety of stunning bird species. You’ll also spot buffalo, giraffes, elephants, impalas, and hippos at the lake.

Lake Manyara is famous for its tree-climbing lions and flamingos lining the lake’s shore. The game drive along the lake offers breathtaking views of wildlife set against the backdrop of the lake and vast plains.

In the afternoon, transfer to Arusha, marking the end of your adventure.
